So, it’s been a little less than a week into Nanowrimo, and I’m already really behind my word count. When I say a little… I mean terribly behind! I’m at just shy of 3000 words, and if I’m going to get to 50000 by November 30th… well I’m really going to have to pick up the pace! This is my first Nanowrimo, and so far its not going well. As excited as I am to pump out a book in a month, I’m also a little scared and sceptical. My first book, that is set to be released in the coming months took me almost 5 years of painstaking time and effort. So I’m not sure how this one month thing is going to go.

What is Nanowrimo?
This is the first time I’ve ever signed up for National Novel Writing Month, and for those who don’t know, Nanowrimo is a non-profit that aims to raise money and get people to put words on paper. The goal is that hundreds of thousands of people around the globe sit down and write a novel. It’s exciting, it’s scary and it’s crazy hard. Not only do you have to spend your day trying to figure out your characters, but you basically just write as much as you can! I luckily, decided to come up with a general idea of what I was going to write before I actually started Nanowrimo.
Why I’m Excited for Nanowrimo!
I am excited to do my writing through a different process, and to work with different characters! Though I probably write thousands of words a day, I usually compartmentalize them by genre. AKA I only write one novel, one screenplay, one blog post per blog, at a time. I do this because my brain would explode if I didn’t. But this month is going to be different, because as I work on my sequel to my debut novel, I am also starting/planning to finish another novel by the end of November.
My biggest excitement for this month, is that I could write another book, in way less time. I want to prove to myself that it can be done and that I don’t have to spend years putting words on paper. My dream is to write forever, so here goes nothing!
Why You Should Get Involved!
It’s not too late! You just have to catch up with your word count. But if you’ve ever dreamt of writing a novel, well now is the time.
