I think travelling around the world brings you close to humanity. Experiencing cultures, religions and people, at least for me, has driven me forward to care. To care about the issues and the preservation of the planet #environmentalist.
In 2014, I toured through southern Turkey. It was probably the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. The crystal blue water, the small seaside towns, the architecture and the food have called me back almost everyday since. However, Turkey isn’t a great place to travel to now. It has become dangerous over the last couple years.
The thing with travelling is that you spend a lot of your time in tiny little dorm rooms with people from all over the world. Today I have friends from all edges of the world on Facebook and that helps to keep me informed on what’s happening.
We live in a digital age and that means that information can get out faster and further, this should make people care more. Instead they find skewed opinions and don’t listen to the facts or the real things that are happening in the world.
I think that had I stayed in the little bubble that was my hometown in Canada I would have been less inclined to care about the global issues that are happening through out the planet today.
However, now that I see cities, countries and cultures being destroyed it constantly makes me what to do something about it.
